Meet Ruth

As a community college graduate, I’ve experienced firsthand the impact that an affordable, high-quality community college education can have. Community college helped lift me from my small, rural hometown into a four-year university. A few years ago, I returned to community college while working full-time in the California Legislature to deepen my education in preparation for a Master’s in Public Policy at UC Berkeley.

I am a public policy analyst and advocate, co-founder of a gender and racial equity coalition, and experienced community organizer with a track record of accomplishing critical policy advances to improve institutional equity.

City College is critical to the fabric of our community; it’s an accessible space for exploration, reinvention, and growth. That’s why I’m running for City College Board of Trustees – for a thriving City College for everyone. I will champion transparency and accountability, identify meaningful methods to bolster enrollment, and engage stakeholders to build consensus around common-sense interventions.

Community college transformed my life and has supported my family’s career and educational advancement for generations. It has the potential to transform so many more lives here in San Francisco.

I live in Bernal Heights with my husband, Zach, and our dog, Phife. I love to garden, thrift shop, and spend time in parks with friends and neighbors.
